Officer seriously injured after being dragged by suspect's car during arrest DENVER (KDVR) — A Brighton Police officer is recovering after being seriously injured while attempting to arrest a domestic violence suspect.On Aug. 16 at 6 p.m., Brighton Police Department officers were called to the 400 block of North 19th Avenue after learning a wanted suspect, 49-year-old Robert Trujillo, was inside a parked car. Trujillo was wanted on a domestic violence felony warrant. When officers found the car and attempted to contact Trujillo, he refused to get out, according to police. Trujillo then drove away while an officer was attempting to remove him from the car. 1 killed in Friday morning shooting on Sheridan Boulevard According to Brighton police, Trujillo began driving at a high rate of speed while the officer was still holding onto him. Mortgage buyer Freddie Mac said Thursday the average rate on the benchmark 30-year home loan rose to 7.09% from 6.96% last week. Rates haven't been that high since 2002. Suspected carjacker taken into custody after leading police on multi-county chase Fort Lauderdale Police are in pursuit of a suspected carjacker. The chase begin Friday afternoon with the suspect traveling westbound on Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale , passing State Road 7. Police continued following the vehicle, which headed northbound on the Turnpike towards Palm Beach County. The suspect was traveling at speeds reaching 100 mph. 7Skyforce hovered over the scene where the vehicle, a white Kia, was stalled in traffic about a mile south on Boynton Beach Boulevard. Fort Lauderdale Police confirmed that the suspect they are pursuing is the same one who was involved in a previous carjacking that occurred on Saturday. The suspect is also accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman during that carjacking.
