Memorial Day is considered the day baseball fans are free to look at the MLB standings, but Mets fans might not like what they see.At 27-27, the Mets currently sit in third place in the NL East behind the Miami Marlins (28-26) and the Atlanta Braves (32-21). The Mets are coming off a six-game road trip through Chicago and Denver. They went 2-4 and the series microcosm of the 2023 season: A lot went wrong, but a little still went right.The pitching didn’t match the hitting. The bullpen blew up twice. Looks like “Yellowstone” is going out on top. The Paramount Network series, which will end after its fifth season, was the most-watched scripted television series of the 2022–2023 season, according to newly-released Nielsen data.The Nielsen ranking, published by Variety, tracks linear viewers of broadcast and cable series, as well as unscripted fare. No fatalities reported in Iowa as officials plan to demolish partially collapsed building

No fatalities have been reported.City officials in Davenport, a city in eastern Iowa, said in a news release that the property owner was served Monday with an order for demolition of the building that was once the Davenport Hotel. Young man shot downtown; police searching for gunman

SAN DIEGO -- Police are searching for a gunman after a 20-year-old man was shot in downtown San Diego early Monday, authorities said.Shortly after 1:30 a.m., San Diego police received a call about a person shot near 5th Avenue and Broadway, SDPD confirmed to FOX 5. Police say before the shooting, the victim was involved in an altercation with a group inside Phantom Nightclub in the 1000 block of 5th Avenue. When the group left the club, the argument continued outside on the street. That's when someone in the group shot the victim several times in his upper body, police said.The victim ran across the street, where he collapsed. Nevada Legislators weigh plan to put MLB stadium on Las Vegas Strip

(AP) — Lawmakers are considering a proposal to finance and incentivize construction of a Major League Baseball stadium on the Las Vegas Strip, with an initial public hearing scheduled Monday at the Nevada Legislature.The plan would authorize up to $380 million in incentives, mainly through state transferable tax credits and county bonds to help provide a new home for the Oakland Athletics. The state would forgo up to $180 million in transferable tax credits, with a cap at $36 million per year. An Ontario Provincial Police officer and a school bus driver have died in a crash that took place northwest of Woodstock, Ont., on Monday.Provincial police say there were no students on the bus and no passengers in the officer’s unmarked vehicle at the time of the crash, which took place a little before 7 a.m.Police say 35-year-old Det.-Const.
